Birthday Celebration The Filipino Way; MANYANETA

Last July 11, 2013 was my grandmother's 81st birthday. We are all thankful that she reached this age. Since we don't have much budget to celebrate her birthday bonggaciously (in short bongga), all her children and grandchildren decided to just wake her up early in the morning, singing, all of us! We called it Manyaneta.

As early as 3:00 in the morning, the young ones like me (grandchildren) are already busy preparing our songs, flowers and different ideas to make her happy. While my aunts and uncles (her children) are also preparing for the morning snacks like, coffee, breads, puto cheese and the little cake that we have for her.

Day 9 - What you hope your future will be like

Ahhh. Future!!! I've got so much in my mind of what I want my future to be like but, of course, we really don't know what will it be like. But, if we work and strive hard to reach our dreams today, we will surely have the future that we want. Agree?

Home Is Where The Heart Is

I am now home from my 3-day break with my sister, cousins and aunts. We visited our hometown, and few places. We bonded so much and I am thankful to that.

When I got home today, aside from what I've observed that our house has become a mess while I was away (what do you expect when boys are left at home?), is the white board in our wall near the window.

It takes a lot of time to make a house a HOME.

Day 8 - A moment you felt satisfied with your life

Satisfied with my life? Though one. I don't know, it's either I haven't satisfied with my life yet or there are too many moments to mention that I have been satisfied. To be honest, I live a complicated life and I think half of the world's population do. That's why it's hard to classify which moment is satisfying.

But of course, I am satisfied that the Almighty God has given me this family that I have. It's not perfect but, I'm happy that this imperfect family is what I call my own treasure.

Day 7 - Your zodiac sign and if you think it fits your personality

Not all people in the world believes in astrology, but I do. Back when I was still in high school, I always find myself reading about zodiac signs, checking the facts if it fits me and my friends too. In the newspapers I get daily before, I always check the daily horoscope section to read my zodiac, my mom's and the rest of the family.

My birthday is on December 30th, which makes me a Capricorn. I am such a Capricorn, no doubt about it! Everything, the good and the bad, is very true about me.

Here is some of what astrology.com has to say about the Capricorn. I highlighted the words and phrases that I think especially describes me best:

My First Swimming Pool Experience

When I was a little girl, my late grandfather used to asked me what I want. Back then, we have a big and very spacious backyard. As my response, I told my Lolo that I want a swimming pool with a slide and he just laughs. Well, my Lolo is well-known in our town because he is a good carpenter, gardener and an artist.

He planned about the swimming pool like what I have told him but months later, he died and left us. Years later, I have felt in my heart that I still wanted to have my own swimming pool but too bad, we don't have our own house anymore. The spacious backyard is not ours anymore.

And just earlier this year, my cousins who's father just got home from Cebu decided to treat me, my brother and some cousins to a small exclusive swimming pool resort in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. It's called Aquavista Waterfun Resort.

in the little pool... first picture! Jane, me and Quinn.
