Our national heroes fought for the freedom of our land, for our independence. I just can't understand why some people (I know and some I don't) hates being a Filipino. Yes, sure we Filipinos being humiliated every now and then but that doesn't mean we should be shy of who we really are! Instead we should always be proud of ourselves and just believe in what we can do. That's what I've learned when I started my journey. Some people and race have always something to say about us, that's why we should also learn how to play the game with them. Don't get me wrong guys. Don't play dirty games just like some people do. Instead just play it neatly and fair.
I can't believe I am writing this. Before, I don't have the guts to speak for other people and write pieces like this. Well, I'm glad I do now. God has finally enlighten my mind and heart.
Be proud of who you are, stand straight and chin up. Don't let others bring you down by their dirty tricks and words. Never ever let them.
So, I hope that those people who are ashamed of themselves being a Filipino, I hope you realize what our ancestors did for us, for me and for you just to get the freedom that we are experiencing now.
HOOOO! I do feel good I speak for something today. Stay safe and blessed everyone!

You're a bonafide Filipino bunso! Am proud of you!
i am one proud pinoy. ang di lang nakakatuwa bilang pinoy ay ang mga "trapo" nating mga pulitiko. lol
We can never ever be anything else other than Filipino. Even if we change citizenship, who we really are cannot be denied.
I was amazed when I finally came here in the US and lived with my husband, he showed me something that I could never expected him to have, our Philippine Flag. I showed it to my kids and they were amazed.
Iba talaga ang GABRIELA member, so patriotic. Kidding aside, bunso. you have a very nice point. If only every Pinoy can walk chin up and have pride in saying Ako ay Filipino, I believe malayo na ang narating ng bansa natin. Who knows, baka neighbor na tayo ng Antarctica..
so happy for you Marie, for now being able to come out of your comfort zone and write bravely about your convictions, imagine me here cheering and clapping for you.
nice, glad to hear that you can express more now...you're a great lady! yes, you're right, we should be proud to be a Filipino, no matter what! xx
I have to agree...be proud of what and who you are...don't let anyone belittle you!
I am proud to be Pinoy and I'll continue to be proud of my roots and origins- my Lupang Hinirang :-)
Yes I am proud of my heritage and roots. :)
There may be a lot of not so good things associated with Filipino but I am still proud to be called a Filipino.
We can never change what happened but there always hope left for every of us. Let us be good Filipinos in our own little way, who knows we can slowly change the not so good things in our culture.
...another proud Filipina signing in here sis! Kudos for this wonderful post! May you always be blessed too and continue inspiring us with the spirit of nationalism :)
I have met a kababayan here who, even if she has migrated here in the US when she was already an adult, doesn't speak Tagalog anymore. Kahit panay Tagalog ko sa kanya, enienglesan pa rin ako. Hmp! I will always be a proud Filipino, no matter what!
im proud Pinay! im proud Filipino!
Just like you, I'm also proud that I am a Filipino. We must me proud kasi other countries also look up to the citizens of our country. :)
